A guarantee of origin serves as evidence of the quality of electricity, in other words its origin and how it was produced. A guarantee of origin can only be "used" once by an end-consumer. But it can be traded freely at all stages of the value chain up to final consumption. Because of its independence from on-grid utilisation, the new marketplace facilitates market access, particularly for small producers, and directly promotes renewable energy. Consumers are free to choose their energy mix, independent of the transmission and distribution network.
If desired we can supply our business customers with guarantees of origin coupled with standard physical products such as base and peak or profiles.

Guarantees fall into two categories:
A guarantee of origin on the basis of the legislation of a particular country guarantees the type of production for electricity generated from renewable resources, and provides the information necessary for labelling. The guarantee makes it easier to transfer the electricity, and allows complete traceability.
RECS (Renewable Energy Certificate System) was established by market players as one of the first trading systems for renewable energy. A RECS certificate represents identifiable proof of the generation of 1 MWh of electricity from renewable resources. With the launch of the RECS certificate, the forerunner of the European guarantee of origin, the association RECS International established certificates trading in the market. Swiss market players are represented at RECS International via the Verein Energy Certificate System Schweiz (ECS Schweiz) alliance.
